A Message from the President
August 2010
As your new Hamilton Elementary PTO President, I’d like to extend a warm welcome back to all our teachers, students, parents, guardians and caregivers. We’ve got a lot of exciting changes this year, and I am thrilled to be a part of them. Various PTO members have been working hard over the summer to get things in place, and we feel confident that you will like these changes as much as we do.
One of the major changes is PTO Manager. If you haven’t signed up already, please take a few minutes to enter your information on our new database. This quick and convenient system will allow us to contact you more efficiently via e-mail blasts, in addition to providing you an opportunity to sign up as a volunteer. I realize that many of you work, and that does not make volunteering easy, but we can use your talents in many different ways. We have dads who work full-time that come in once or twice a year to do Junior Achievement. We have moms who work full-time that do a ½ hour SRC presentation for their child’s class once a year. We have our working parents who read to their child’s class for 15-min. two or three times a year. And then we have our moms with young children at home that take home laminated materials to cut up and bring back to our PTO workroom. Regardless of your time constraints, we can find a way for you to be a part of the Hamilton volunteer team. PTO Manager will help you in this process.
Our student directory will take on a new look this year. We will be using a company that has done directories for several local schools, including Sampson Elementary, at no charge to the school. Please be careful to enter all of your information correctly and if you’d like a directory, be sure to join the Hamilton Elementary PTO! It is just one of the perks of being a member.
I am also happy to announce our new board members. Cindy Schluter will be joining us Cultural Arts VP, Marianne Weissinger as Secretary, and Amanda Tomita as our new Fundraising VP. As you all know, fundraising is a big part of what we do—the money we raise allows us to provide many educational programs for our children that make Hamilton Elementary the quality school it is. You will soon be getting brochures home for our new minor fall fundraiser, and based on our End-of-the-Year survey, we will make a decision very soon about our major fundraiser. If you’d like to be a part of the process, please be sure to either e-mail Amanda at the link on this webpage, or come to one of our PTO meetings.
Finally, you’ll be hearing a lot more from your PTO this year. Be on the lookout for our new newsletter which will be sent to you via PTO Manager. It will have up-to-date information on what is going on in the PTO and how you can be a part of it all.
